My breakdown of my theme for a starting point for my final year at university: Statement

Statement: Starting Point

My Theme:
With my previous studio practice from Level 5 my body of work was mainly about the appearance of Norris Green which is known as a violent council estate in Liverpool. Through out my studio practice I did touch upon certain issues about Norris Green like the violence, crime and people living with in the community, but because I enjoyed the process and producing the work for my Level 5 body of work I would like to revisit it and go in more depth on certain subjects I touch upon.

Story:
My story is relevant to my theme of Norris Green because I am a resident of Norris Green and have been since I was seven. Because I have lived in Norris Green since I was a child I mostly know the news, happenings etc. I also touched upon my story in my previous studio practice from Level 5.

Subject: My Environment
I will be looking at peoples opinions of the area, News and Social happenings. I would like to do interviews and surveys but that will only happen if the residents of Norris Green want to participate.

Disciplinary Area: Specialisms
For this theme I want to do more daily notifications so basically a dairy. I also want to carry on taking photographs because they were a big part of my studio practice in Level 5. The photographs gave my work a lot of visual meaning and context. I would also like to do observational drawings to capture the moment. I also want to do some dry point printing and experimental film making.

Research:

For research I am going to look at the news, websites, blogs etc. Plus I will be looking at artists that are involved with the community.
